Activities / Attractions
  • Secluded Setting / Island
Just beyond the end of the road, but it seems like another world! Accessible only by air or water, Red Pine is a natural, 7 acres of pine-studded sand island. SIMPLY UNREEL...
  • Tours / Hiking / Self-guided
Daily exercise or a time for contemplation - we maintain 6 miles of wilderness hiking across from the island, on the mainland. Try a real hike to the top of Ontario's second highest point, Maple Mountain!

Angling

  • Walleye
Lady Evelyn Lake is known for its super walleye fishing. The Walleye here are easy to find and catch the entire season. Spring is when we see the most big ones, but count on loads of 14 to 19 inchers!
  • Northern Pike
A huge lake (28 miles long) with over 450 miles of shoreline gives our Northern Pike some elbow room! The north shore's shallow bays warm early and bring these monsters to life!
  • Bass / Smallmouth Bass
Wrestle these guys on Lady Evelyn Lake or a choice of small portage lakes. The Bass fishing here is a real surprise. (Isn't this a walleye lake?) Great top-water action late August and into September.
  • Trout / Speckled Trout
How often have you heard "I'd walk a mile for a trout lake!" Well, maybe not those exact words, but you get the drift. We have a couple of dandy little Brookie and Rainbow Lakes and a stream or two to try.
  • Perch
One of the main types of baitfish for the lake, these fish are easy to catch especially in the warm summer waters. They sure keep the younger anglers at Red Pine happy!
  • Whitefish
One of the best tasting fish in the North! Like Perch, Whitefish are plentiful in Lady Evelyn Lake. Real fighters, they are easily caught in the spring. Find 'em in the many bays in less than 12' of water.

Nature and Adventures

  • Wildlife Viewing / Birds / Loons
Oh yes...lest we forget the unofficial national bird (no, it's not the mosquito)! Nothing can compare to the recollections brought to mind when one hears this mournful call of a loon across a mirrored lake..
  • Wildlife Viewing / Ungulates / Moose
Largely due to the fact that this huge area is roadless and no outfitter on the lake offers a moose hunt, our guests have been lucky enough to see many of these animals in recent years.

Marine

  • Rentals / Boats / Fishing
No need to rent boats, they're part of the package! Our 16' aluminum boats have new 15 HP electric start, 4-stroke motors, and fishfinders. Of course, all the gas and live bait is included...how nice.

Services / Accommodations

  • American Plan
A few thousand Red Pine guests have said we have The Best Meals of any fishing lodge they have visited. Not fancy, just good, and plenty of it. Homemade bread and soup compliment our awesome, buffet style dinners.
  • Access to Lodge / Boat-In
: The Adventure begins! Guests take a leisurely barge ride across a river, transfer to trucks (200 yds) around a dam, then sit back to enjoy boat ride the remaining 8 miles to Red Pine Island. Work for staff - fun for guests...
  • Access to Lodge / Fly-In
It's your choice! Fly-in from Toronto, North Bay, or Sudbury. Have the Limosine pick you up at any of these airports. We 've been in business for 16 years so let us arrange the connections for you.
  • Conservation / Fishing
Lady Evelyn Lake is blessed with a super natural fishery. By catering to a conservation minded group of people, restrictive fishing regulations simply aren't needed. Limited access to this area enhances our quality fishery.
  • Facilities / Pets Allowed
We know how much your pooch is part of the family. Our Recreation Director ("Fisher" the Golden Retriever) likes having four-legged visitors on his island. But please, no pets over 300 pounds! I remember this one occasion...
  • Guides / Fishing
Most of our guests do very well fishing on their own, but for those that want to be spoiled - here's the deal: for a mere $125 cdn you can spend the whole day with a great fisherman who may also possess a sense of humor! Bonus.
  • Parks / Provincial
Our lake has the distinction of being the gateway to two huge parks - Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Wilderness Park and Obabika Waterway Park. Sheer rock cliffs and towering pine trees are just two features of this vast area.
  • Facilities / Main Lodge
With a spectacular, panoramic view of Lady Evelyn Lake, our Dining Hall accommodates an average of 24 guests or so that come to Red Pine each week. Awesome meals are enjoyed in the casual atmosphere. Like family, only better.
